When I was young, I wasn’t involved in music very much. I enjoyed listening, but would never imagined I would be pursuing it to the extent I am today. My view on music changed dramatically as I took up the horn in the 7th grade. Band class became the period I looked forward to most throughout the day. As my musicality matured through the horn, I discovered the incredible repertoire of orchestra, and listening to orchestral recordings became apart of my daily routine. I was truly captivated by the sounds created by these instruments, so in my freshman year of highschool, I decided to join the Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra. It was through this ensemble I discovered my love for playing in orchestra. During the same year, with the support of my teacher at the time, I decided to audition for some summer programs and the Juilliard Precollege. I don’t know what I was expecting the outcomes of the auditions to be, but I knew I wanted to pursue this more than anything else. I was of course overjoyed and surprised when I was accepted into the Juilliard Precollege and Curtis summerfest programs. While I cannot pinpoint a specific moment when I decided my plans for the future, I believe over that summer is when I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in music. The following year, I continued studying at Julliard Precollege and attended the Interlochen Arts Camp the following summer.
