Hyungjoo Han

Northern Maryland Region

Hyungjoo Han has been playing the flute since 4th grade and is currently a sophomore at Centennial High School. She participates in ensembles such as the Howard County Gifted and Talented Youth Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Centennial High School Wind Ensemble. She has won 2nd place in the Mid Atlantic Flute Convention student honors competition, 2nd place in the wind division of the YMIC competition, and has received honorable mention in the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra concerto competition. Hyungjoo participates actively in many Peabody Institute recitals and studies with Ms. Rachel JeeYoung Choe, who is part of the flute faculty at Peabody. She will also be attending the Brevard Music Center over the summer for their high school orchestra summer camp program. Besides playing the flute, Hyungjoo enjoys running, investigating true crime cases, going outdoors with her dog, and spending time with her friends.

Asha Kline

Asha Kline is a sophomore at Centennial High School in Ellicott City, Maryland. She started playing bassoon at the age of ten. Asha has been the principal bassoonist of MCYO’s Philharmonic orchestra for the past two years and has been a member of the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra (BSYO) for five. In addition to youth orchestras, Asha has also participated in summer music festivals such as Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra 2 (NYO2) in 2017 and BU Tanglewood Institute’s Young Artists Orchestra (YAO) in 2018. In 2017, Asha was awarded first place in the junior division of the Columbia Orchestra Young Artist Competition and performed as soloist with the Columbia Orchestra. She also placed second in the Master Players Festival 2017 Concerto Competition and was awarded honorable mention in the BSYO Concerto Competition the same year. Asha also performed as soloist with BSYO in 2018 as second prize winner of their 2018 Concerto Competition. She has been a member of the Maryland Junior All State Band for the past three years and principal for the past two. Asha is grateful for the opportunity to be co-regional director, and she looks forward to sharing her passion for music with young children through Back to BACH.

Sihyun (Jennifer) Park

Jennifer Park is a freshman at Glenelg High School, in Glenelg, Maryland. She first started cello in first grade and is currently studying the instrument with Wonhee Kim, her teacher since fifth grade. She has also been in the Peabody Academy for Strings, performing in the Walters Art Museum and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She was the co-principal cellist in the Peabody Young Artists Orchestra in 2017, and she is currently in the Peabody Youth Orchestra. Jennifer has also participated in the Bethel Emmanuel Youth Orchestra from 2014 to 2016, she has been participating in the Howard County GT Orchestra since she was nine years old, performing as the principal cellist in 2017-2018, playing the Faure Élégie (Elegy), Op. 24 solo, and she has performed with the Maryland All-State Junior Orchestra in 2016 and 2017. She enjoys helping kids with cello and is very excited to motivate children to play an instrument during the “Back to BACH” project. She joined the organization in 2018 and is starting a region in Howard County, Maryland as the Regional Director. She is gratified to be able to expand the “Back to Bach” project to children in nearby schools.

Daeyong Kwon

Daeyong Kwon who is now 15 years old is a freshman at Centennial High School. He started playing the violin at the beginning of 6th grade, and since 7th grade he has been studying under Juhee Park. Currently he is third chair first violin of the Centennial String Ensemble, and principal of the second violins in the Bethel Emmanuel Youth Orchestra. He was also the concertmaster of the Howard County Middle School Honors Orchestra in 2017-2018. Daeyong is a member of the Howard County GT Repertory Orchestra, and is also a member of the Baltimore Symphony Concert Orchestra. Additionally, Daeyong is ecstatic to work with kids and is willing to help them enjoy music, just like those around him helped him to grow as a musician.

Sieun Park

Sieun Park is currently a junior at Glenelg High School and has studied the flute for a total of 8 years; 4 years with her current teacher, Dr. Rachel JeeYoung Choe. From  2016, Sieun participates in the Peabody Preparatory Performance Academy as a 4-year full scholarship recipient. She is also currently playing in the Peabody Wind Orchestra as first chair and takes other classes, such as conducting and wind quintet, available in the preparatory. Sieun performs in the Howard County High School GT Orchestra ever since 2017, with TwoSetViolin(2018-19) and with the BSO in the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. In that same year, she won second place in the Washington National Youth Music Competition- Young Artist competition(senior division). Lastly, Sieun was acceptance into the 2019 MPulse Summer Performing Arts Institutes - Flute Institute. Sieun Park participates in a variety of activities to pursue her dream of majoring in music. However, other than music, some of this young musician’s hobbies are photography, singing, and swimming. Lastly, by in exploring new path, Sieun hopes to continue the journey to being a better musician and person.
